When I was handed The Simpsons Game for Wii, I was like a kid on a sugar rush. I love the series and the game doesn't disappoint. It brings you right into the Simpsons' crazy life, and you feel as if you're in one of the series' episodes.

The Simpsons Game
The storyline is a bit weird and is based on mocking the gaming industry, but true to creator Matt Groening's style, it just adds to the fun. The family, of which you can play any of the characters as the game progresses, realise that they are actually trapped within a video game. Each of them has special powers to complete the 16 levels, doing puzzles and collecting key cards and cliches, all with the aim of ensuring their future in the next The Simpsons game to be released. Throughout the game you can also select to play any of a number of Wii Moments that you have unlocked. These are mini-games, each with their own tasks. Again, they are parodies of other games like Pokemon and Space Invaders.

Homer can turn into a giant "Homer Ball" to squash enemies and large structures. He can also turn into a large green "Gummy monster" oting gummies - and a "Helium Homer" that belches to defeat the enemy. Bart has a slingshot and can turn into "Bartman", sporting gliding abilities. Lisa has the "Hand of Buddha" power, which allows her to move large objects and fry enemies with lightning strikes. Her saxophone can also be used to stun enemies, turn them against each other and knock them out with a jazzy tune. Marge's megaphone allows her to gather up crowds of good Samaritans to help defeat the baddies.

Throughout the game, you are taken through familiar scenes from actual episodes in the series and are thrown into levels which make fun of other popular games within the industry, such as "Grand Theft Scratchy" (Grand Theft Auto), "Big Super Happy Fun Fun Game", "Medal of Homer" (Medal of Honour) and "Neverquest" (Everquest, Legend of Zelda, and Lord of the Rings). It's fun and not too difficult as you manoeuvre through the familiarities of these games.

For the most part, the game is a standard 3D platform, but with a simple 2D style, keeping it as close as possible to the television series' look and feel, which is also part of its appeal.
